The Problem

The world wasn't built for their brain. And nobody gave them anything to reach for.

Fluorescent lights. Crowded hallways. Open offices. Back-to-back demands with no space to decompress. Whether it's a teenager navigating a school day or an adult called back to an overwhelming office, the experience is the same. Sensory overload with nowhere to go and nothing to reach for.

Meanwhile, every sensory tool on the market was designed for small children. Flat lap pads slide off. Weighted blankets don't travel. And none of them were built to wrap around a body the way a real hug does.

That ends here.

The Real Cost

Burnout isn't laziness.
It's your nervous system saying
I have nothing left.

And walking back into a fluorescent-lit office with 40 open tabs, back-to-back meetings, and a body that never fully recovered is not a recovery plan. It's a setup.

For neurodivergent adults, burnout doesn't just feel overwhelming. It feels like your brain is physically failing you. Because in a very real sense, it is. Your nervous system is dysregulated, your sensory threshold is depleted, and nobody handed you a single tool designed to help.

๐ŸŒ€

Sensory overload is cumulativeEvery fluorescent flicker, every open-plan conversation, every unexpected interruption chips away at your capacity. By 2pm you're running on fumes.

๐Ÿง

ADHD & autism amplify everythingWhat a neurotypical person shrugs off, your nervous system registers at full volume. RTO didn't create this problem. It just turned the volume up.

๐Ÿซ‚

Deep pressure is one of the few things that actually helpsNot a breathing app. Not a five-minute walk. Weight. Contact. Containment. Your body knows what it needs. U Need a HUG was built to give it to you.

The Product
U Need a HUG

Deep pressure.
Finally designed
for your body.

Most weighted lap pads sit flat across your thighs and slide off the moment you shift. U Need a HUG is shaped like a U. The base rests across your lap while both arms extend around your sides, hugging your hips and lower torso. That means you get simultaneous deep pressure input across three contact points at once. Not just weight on your legs. An actual embrace.

Base sits across the full lap - thighs and hips grounded
Arms wrap your sides - lateral pressure that flat pads can't deliver
Glass bead fill flows evenly - no clumping, no cold spots
Ultra-soft minky fabric - sensory comfort on contact
Removable washable cover - built for daily use
Why Deep Pressure Works

Your nervous system knows what it needs.

Deep pressure input (DPI) is a form of sensory stimulation. Firm, distributed touch across the body that activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Think of it as your body's built-in calm switch.

When weight is applied evenly across the body, it triggers the release of serotonin and dopamine while reducing cortisol. You don't need a diagnosis to feel this. If you've ever felt calmer under a heavy blanket, or better after a real hug, you already know what deep pressure does for your body.

The problem with flat lap pads is they only cover one contact zone. Your thighs. U Need a HUG covers three simultaneously: your lap, your hips, and your sides. That's what makes the U-shape different. More contact. More input. More calm.

๐Ÿฆด

Lap & Thighs: Grounding

The base of the U rests across your full lap. Glass beads distribute weight evenly across both thighs with no pooling, no shifting. Keeps you grounded in your seat.

๐Ÿค—

Hips & Sides: Containment

The arms of the U curve around your sides and rest against your hips. This lateral pressure is what flat pads completely miss and it's what makes this feel like being held, not just weighted.

๐Ÿง˜

Full Body Input: Regulation

Three contact points at once activates the parasympathetic response more effectively than single-zone pressure. Your nervous system gets the signal: you are safe. You can focus.

Why This Exists

Sensory Brand for Adults

I built this because
I couldn't find it.

I have ADHD. I'm the parent of a child on the autism spectrum. And I've spent 17 years in HR watching companies call people back to offices that were never designed for their brains, without a single accommodation for what that actually costs a nervous system.

I know what sensory overload looks like up close. I know what it feels like to white-knuckle your way through a workday with no tools, no support, and no language for what your body is asking for. I've lived it. I've watched my child live it. And I've watched hundreds of employees live it in silence because nothing existed for them.

U Need a HUG exists because adults deserve tools that were actually built for them. Not adapted from children's therapy equipment. Not a flat pad that slides off your lap. Something real. Something that wraps around you. Something that says your body's needs are valid, and you don't have to just cope.

I'm not a big brand. I'm a person who needed this, couldn't find it, and decided to build it. I hope it finds you at exactly the right moment.
